WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
As a member of NEA’s Marketing & Communications team, you will build positive brand awareness for the firm, investing partners and portfolio, developing and executing strategies for media and influencer engagement, content development, and targeted in-person and digital events. You’ll seek to amplify the firm’s voice in conversations that matter (or start conversations we should be having) across the technology and venture ecosystems. Strong strategic communications, content development, digital media and media relations skills are table stakes for this role—success will require you to gain deep knowledge of the firm’s people, portfolio and sectors of focus. Specific duties include:

  • Collaborate with investing partners to develop compelling content for blog posts, guest columns, sector and company spotlights, video segments, newsletters, case studies, podcasts, etc.
  • Develop and implement strategies for digital content distribution to boost firm profile and content visibility across key channels/audiences
  • Plan and execute portfolio-focused events such as media dinners, webinars, roundtables and panel discussions that add value for NEA companies and help the firm deepen relationships with key entrepreneurs, media and executives
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with key reporters/influencers
  • Write and distribute press releases, news briefs, and internal announcements as directed
  • Craft key messages and talking points for investing staff in advance of media interviews or speaking engagements; staff interviews and be accountable for follow-up, action items, meeting notes, feedback, etc. as needed
  • Work with practice team leads to identify and prioritize industry/sector conferences, coordinate sponsorships and secure speaking slots with PR firm support
  • Be an ambassador of NEA’s culture and brand, both internally and externally

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Expert writing and editing skills with a passion for storytelling; capable of crafting clear, compelling material about diverse subject matter and adapting style and tone for a variety of channels and audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful media and/or marketing campaigns, build strong relationships with journalists/influencers, and effectively disseminate key messages across multiple platforms
  • Highly organized with strong analytical and project management skills; capable of triaging inbound requests, prioritizing workload, dodging distractions and adhering to deadlines
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; you are collaborative, diplomatic and persuasive
  • Excellent judgment and discretion; you perform well under pressure
  • Working knowledge of the technology and venture capital industries (at a minimum); ready to make big leaps or deep dives as needed; boundless intellectual curiosity a plus
  • Tech proficiency; you already know or can quickly learn the myriad tools you’ll need to do your job, from software (CMS, CRM, Microsoft Office, etc.) to social and mobile apps
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing communications, media relations or related area
  • Prior experience in venture and/or building successful consumer brands a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; MBA or post-graduate study a plus

  • Occasional domestic travel and attendance at evening meetings or events is expected
