Sheel Tyle

Principal, Menlo Park

Sheel joined NEA in 2012 and is a Principal & Co-Head of the Seed Practice.  He focuses on consumer technology and emerging markets.  He is actively involved in NEA's investments in Robinhood, Hired, Coursera, Fiscalnote, Mattermark, LearnUp, and Vuclip (acquired PCCW).  Prior to NEA, Sheel was at Bessemer Venture Partners where he sourced & co-led BVP's 2011 investment in Snapdeal, now India's largest e-commerce marketplace and currently valued at over $4 billion.  As an angel investor, Sheel has personally invested in the seed and/or Series A of Pinterest, Robinhood, Mark43, IfOnly, Casper, FusionOps, HelloGiggles, and Andela. 

Sheel is also the founder of S2 Capital, a social impact micro-fund focused on young entrepreneurs in the developing world. He is on the Board of Directors of the Business Center for New Americans, a nonprofit which provides micro loans for women, immigrants, and refugees. He is also on the Board of Directors for Andela, a job training company based in New York & Lagos.  He was previously on the business development team of Skybox Imaging, which was acquired by Google in 2014 for $500 million.  

Sheel graduated from Stanford University in three years, at the age of 19.  He frequently speaks on economic empowerment, innovation, and job creation internationally; most recently at the Abraaj Forum in Turkey, the Growth Net in India, Cumbre de Negocios in Mexico, and GO Youth in Portugal. He is a World Economic Forum Global Shaper, and was the youngest on the Forbes 30 under 30 list for finance in 2013.
